According to the agency's clarification, in 2025, the total electricity consumption in the country amounted to 10.4 trillion kilowatt-hours, which is 5% higher than the data for the previous year.
Thus, China became the first country to reach such a level of electricity consumption, significantly outpacing the United States and exceeding the total electricity consumption of the European Union, Russia, India, and Japan by more than twice.
The accelerated development of high-tech manufacturing in China has become the key driver of the growth in electricity demand.
According to the relevant ministry, by the end of November last year, there were more than 19.32 million electric vehicle charging stations in China, which is 52% more compared to the same period in 2024.
