More than 140,000 people have activated the self-restriction service for lending in the Kyrgyz Republic.
For reference, the self-ban mechanism was introduced to reduce cases of fraud and protect citizens from obtaining loans without their consent. It came into effect on November 1, 2025.
Citizens can freely set and remove the self-ban through the state electronic services portal. Information about the ban is transmitted to the selected credit bureaus.
Financial organizations are required to check for the presence of a self-ban before entering into a loan agreement and must refuse in case it is present.
Legislative changes allowing the implementation of this mechanism were signed by the president in the summer months of 2025.
