According to the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Tajikistan, this project will be the largest in the field of solar energy in the country and will contribute to enhancing energy security.

An investment agreement for the construction of two solar power plants with a total capacity of 500 megawatts has been signed between the government and a local company.

A solar station is planned to be created in the Ahsht district of the Sughd region with a capacity of 250 megawatts, and a similar station in the Jaihun district of the Khatlon region. The investor is committed to completing the design and construction, as well as putting the facilities into operation by the end of 2026.

It is expected that the new solar capacities will help reduce the seasonal electricity deficit, especially in the winter period, decreasing the load on the energy system and increasing the resilience of electricity supply for the population and the economy.
