Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic Summarizes Breeding Work
As of today, there are 185 breeding farms operating in Kyrgyzstan, covering all key areas of animal husbandry and contributing to the economic development of rural areas.
According to the ministry, sheep farming remains at the forefront — there are 75 farms in the country with a total of more than 24,700 sheep. Additionally, 66 farms for cattle breeding are actively developing, with a total of 8,400 heads. In horse breeding, there are 35 entities that keep 1,700 horses. Specialized farms for breeding goats and yaks are represented by five entities each. Poultry farming, despite the small number of large breeding enterprises (only two), shows good results with a population of over 281,000 birds.
The ministry notes that the development of breeding plays an important role in ensuring the country's food security and increasing export potential by improving the quality of meat and dairy products. In the near future, the ministry plans to continue supporting farmers and actively implement modern technologies in the breeding process.
