He noted that an identification system is used to monitor the movement of animals. After slaughter, the meat undergoes mandatory veterinary inspection, after which electronic documents and veterinary certificates are issued.
In Bishkek, there are 14 veterinary and sanitary laboratories that conduct examinations of meat products. All beef, horse meat, and pork are fully traceable using the identification system; however, control over lamb is limited due to insufficient coverage by the system.
Sharapov also reported that in 2025, 47 cases of infectious diseases among animals were recorded in the country, of which 25 cases were related to rabies. The main carriers of this virus remain wild animals, which can attack domestic animals and humans during outbreaks of the disease. All infection hotspots were promptly localized.
Additionally, a large livestock market in Tokmok was closed for non-compliance with veterinary and sanitary requirements, and alternative trading platforms are currently being developed. Similar measures were previously taken in Sokuluk, where a new municipal market was opened.
