The Stability of Power - A Question of Strategic Development for Kyrgyzstan and the Greater Eurasian Space

The question of power stability in Kyrgyzstan is crucial for the strategic development not only of this country but also of the entire Eurasian space. The resilience of the political system and trust in the authorities play an important role in strengthening cooperation between states. Economic growth in partner countries and infrastructure development directly depend on the stability of the authorities, which creates conditions for forming strong interconnections based on respect and trust. This raises the relevance of the state of affairs in neighboring countries and their political stability.

Thus, Kazakh journalists noted that the level of trust in the President of Kyrgyzstan, which remains above 80%, is a significant indicator. This overwhelming majority, amidst high political competition and fluctuating public sentiments, indicates his confident leadership positions, which, in turn, points to social stability and support for political reforms.

According to a survey conducted in mid-February, 81% of the population supports Sadyr Japarov's actions as president. At the same time, 75% of respondents are confident in his competence and trust him.

As reported by the information portal Kursiv.media, the survey was conducted from February 12 to 18, 2026, among the adult population of Kyrgyzstan (18+) using a combined method that includes telephone interviews (Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing, CATI) and online surveys (Computer-Assisted Web Interviewing, CAWI).

The sample was formed considering the main socio-demographic groups, including age, gender, and type of settlement.

The survey also considered potential candidates for the presidency, allowing participants to name any politician of their choice. The results of the survey showed a clear preference for Sadyr Japarov:

Expert in sociological research Aydin Bakytbek uulu emphasized in comments to IA "Kabar" that Sadyr Japarov's positions remain consistently high, which has already become a regular phenomenon.

"Comparing the results of surveys over the past 5 years, it can be noted that the president's rating remains high. Evaluations of his activities coincide across different time intervals," he added.

According to the International Republican Institute, since 2020, the level of trust in Sadyr Japarov has remained high — from 80 to almost 90% of respondents positively assess his work.

Despite strong protests against corruption in 2020 and the consequences of the pandemic, the population had high hopes for the new leadership.

Since then, significant changes have occurred in Kyrgyzstan: large infrastructure projects are being implemented, such as the construction of schools and roads. President Japarov has optimized the decision-making process, making it faster and more effective.

Currently, Kyrgyzstan is implementing two key projects: a transcontinental railway and one of the largest hydropower plants in the region. This requires active cooperation with international partners and investors. The political style of the president meets modern requirements, and he is accessible for communication with citizens.

The ratings of other politicians in the country are lower, and they are less accessible for communication with the population. In surveys where respondents had to name a politician they trust, most named Sadyr Japarov. His work is noticeable, and people place their hopes on him," noted Aydin Bakytbek uulu.

Journalists from Kursiv.media in their analytical material emphasize that the stability of Kyrgyzstan as Kazakhstan's closest partner in the EAEU directly affects economic cooperation and the overall investment climate in Central Asia.

Experts, considering the stability of the Eurasian space in conditions of global uncertainty, emphasize its importance for achieving economic prosperity through open and mutually beneficial partnerships. Ulugbek Yereshayev, head of the SCO research center, notes that only by remaining reliable partners can Central Asian countries achieve economic stability.

"We have stopped perceiving each other as competitors, which has opened new opportunities for cooperation. Now we not only coexist but also work towards common goals. Interaction within the EAEU and SCO demonstrates good development rates," he added.

Discussing new formats of economic interaction, we invariably emphasize the increase in trade volumes and mutual preferences, which is a result of strengthening ties between states.

These factors, in turn, support economic growth and contribute to stability.

Why does this matter?

Investors and business structures make decisions based on the stability of power and legality. When clear rules are in place in a country, investments come in, new enterprises open, and roads are built.

Thus, stability becomes the foundation for economic growth. In the face of global challenges, the EAEU and SCO represent a reliable format of cooperation based on mutual respect and consideration of the interests of all parties.

Strong power and calmness in each country create favorable conditions for new productions and jobs. By investing in its stability, the state takes a step towards a joint future where security and development go hand in hand. Political predictability in each country is an important factor for achieving common goals," summarized Ulugbek Yereshayev.

Experts note that the level of trust in the authorities in Central Asia and the EAEU is stable. In Kyrgyzstan, where the economy has shown significant changes over the past five years, the authorities' rating remains high, which is an assessment of the government's work from the population's perspective.
